Project Background

A chemical new materials plant required higher positioning accuracy for control valves used in a 260,000 tons/year polyacrylamide project.

The original Japanese SSS mechanical positioners provided limited positioning accuracy under site conditions, while the customer required valve positioning accuracy of ≤1%.

Customer Challenge

The main challenge was positioning accuracy.

The original mechanical positioners had an accuracy level of around 10%, which could not meet the customer’s requirement of ≤1% positioning accuracy for the chemical process application.

The customer needed a smart valve positioner replacement solution to improve control accuracy and support stable operation on site.

POWERFLOW Solution

POWERFLOW supplied smart valve positioners to replace the original Japanese SSS mechanical positioners on site.

The replacement solution helped upgrade the valve control system from traditional mechanical positioning to smart positioning control, supporting higher accuracy and more reliable process control for the customer’s chemical new materials project.

Project Results

The POWERFLOW replacement solution met the customer’s required positioning accuracy of ≤1% and improved valve control performance compared with the original mechanical positioners.

Since installation in October 2023, the units have been operating normally on site, and the customer was satisfied with the service process.
